About the volunteering opportunity

Schülerpaten Berlin e. V. has been arranging 1:1 educational sponsorships between volunteers and socially disadvantaged pupils with migration and newcomer backgrounds throughout Berlin since 2009. As a mentor, you improve the educational opportunities of these children through individual voluntary tutoring.

Your Tasks

As part of the sponsorship, you will give private tuition once a week at the child's home and give advice on school and personal challenges. Joint leisure activities and undertakings are part of the mentorship too and also financially supported by us.

What's needed

Volunteers must be native German speakers.

You should be interested in working with children and young people and be curious about other cultures. German language skills at C2 level are required.

Schülerpaten Berlin e. V. qualifies you through voluntary seminars and theme evenings and is at your side as a contact person during the entire sponsorship. We arrange sponsorships throughout Berlin and try to find a child who lives close to you.

Time required

Regularly
Approx. 2 hours per week.

You can arrange your time flexibly in consultation with your godchild.

Important notice

If you would like to join us, you can write us a message or register directly on our website: https://schuelerpaten-berlin.de/mitmachen-patinnen/ Afterwards, we will invite you to a personal meeting.

Where?

Schülerpaten Berlin e.V.

Founded in 2009, the registered association Schülerpaten Berlin e.V. aims to improve educational opportunities for children with an Arabic migration background and to enhance integration through intercultural exchange in Berlin. In a careful process volunteers are matched to children in need of tutoring. The mentors are trained by experienced instructors in order to acquire basic educational skills and an understanding of the Arab world. The provision of financial means for recreational activities between mentor and mentee ensures that the relationship is not solely restricted to tutoring.
